The Early Recovery Program II

After successfully implementing phase I of the Early Recovery Program, PARC has awarded a 2 years grant from the Netherlands Representative Office in Ramallah (NRO) to implement phase II of Early Recovery Program in the Gaza Strip. The program will target different locations among the Gaza strip this includes; North, Middle and South areas of the strip in addition to the agricultural quarters in Gaza city (Zayton, Shaaf, Shegaia). The program’s target groups will includes: damaged & small scale farmers, women and unemployed workers (including buffer zone residence).

Overall Goal

The program aims to respond to the early recovery needs and enhancing the livelihood for poor families and agricultural lands in the Gaza strip. This will be achieved throughout implementing 4 interventions in which are considered development interventions.

Program Specific Objectives

  • To improve the food production and nutrition level on household level (Home Garden Intervention).
  • To assist small farmers through rehabilitation of their damaged lands (Land Rehabilitation Intervention).
  • To recover the damaged open fields through the installation of water conveyance system. (Rehabilitation of Main Irrigation Water Conveyance System Intervention)
  • To facilitate the movement of farmers, agricultural inputs and outputs through the rehabilitation of damaged agricultural roads. (Opening Agricultural Roads)

*All planned interventions will be implemented in a mechanism that ensures creation of job opportunities for unemployed farmers whose properties, farms and premises were lost for being adjacent to the so-called buffer zone, which will in turn increase their income and enhance their food security.

Partnership

The Program will be implemented in a way to ensure effectiveness and efficiency, and this will be throughout Partnership Implementation Style.

Gender

Home Gardens Intervention among ER Program will ONLY target women. Besides, they will have equal opportunity to apply for the other services.

Coordination

PARC is establishing a network/committee in which will include all actors who are implementing Land Rehabilitation in the Gaza Strip.
