PARC has distributed tens of thousands of fruit tree seedlings in many villages and towns in the provinces of the northern West Bank, being part of its programs and projects of land reclamation and rehabilitation aiming at increasing the farmland.
Dr. Samer Al-Ahmad the Northern Branch director announced that this activity comes within the context of PARCs' strategic goal in contributing to food security for rural families and farmland expansion through land reclamation and plantation of fruit trees of olives and almonds, thus creating new and sustainable sources of income for beneficiary families.
Agronomist Omar Aldamaj announced that more than 75,000 trees will be planted in the governorates of Jenin, Nablus, Tulkarem, Qalqilia, and Tubas. The rain fed and irrigated fruit trees will be planted to benefit more than 2,000 farmers in 35 towns and villages in the vicinity of the apartheid wall and settlements in order to strengthen the resilience of farmers in those areas and protect their land from confiscation by the settlers.
Corresponding to the distribution of seedlings dozens of workshops and training courses for farmers are conducted aiming at raising their skills and know how on trees plantation and follow up.
